ROME, N.Y. (AP) — The Boxing Hall of Fame weekend drew legends and leaders from across the sport, including WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman — and for the first time, Fight 4 Mental Health, led by Egypt Brown.
Egypt , who sat with the Sulaiman family during the gala, said the event was a reminder of boxing’s cultural power.
“Boxing has always been about resilience,” Brown said. “Now we want to take that same spirit and direct it toward mental health.”
The Hall of Fame honored fighters past and present in upstate New York, where fans gathered for inductions and exhibitions. Egypt Brown used the moment to introduce Fight 4 Mental Health’s initiatives to industry veterans.
Sulaiman welcomed the partnership, noting the WBC’s own emphasis on athlete wellness. “Mental health is not optional in sports anymore,” Sulaiman said.
Brown described the weekend as a bridge between tradition and progress. “We’re honoring the past but also shaping a new future,” he said.
