Active PT Redding: Where Recovery Meets Performance in Northern California’s Adventure Capital
June 24, 2025Future-Ready Trading: 1P Fund Launches Promising Platform Enhancements
June 24, 2025In the emerald paradise of Hawaii’s Big Island, where volcanic peaks pierce azure skies and ocean breezes carry the promise of rain, a quiet revolution is taking place. Pacific Blue Catchment isn’t just another service company—it’s the embodiment of island wisdom, environmental stewardship, and the deep understanding that in Hawaii, water truly is wealth. Their motto, “Don’t Be a Drain, Catch The Rain,” captures both the playful spirit of the islands and the serious mission of transforming how Hawaii thinks about one of its most precious resources.
From Pool Service to Water Pioneer: The Corey Yeaton Story
The story of Pacific Blue Catchment begins with a UC Davis environmental science graduate who came home to Hawaii with fresh eyes and an entrepreneurial spirit. When I ask Corey about the inspiration for Pacific Blue Catchment, he says it was all about “being at the right place, at the right time.” The place was in Ocean View on the Big Island of Hawaiʻi, and the time was 2008.
Corey had recently moved home to Hawaiʻi after earning a BS in Environmental Resource Science at the University of California, Davis and was working for his brother’s pool business. Driving around servicing pools, he couldn’t help but notice a huge need by residents that was going unmet: help with their water catchment systems.
What began as an observation became an obsession, and what started as a side hustle evolved into Hawaii’s premier rainwater catchment company. He started small, developing a “tank route” between Kona and Ocean View where he’d check the PH of residents’ water tanks, clean dirty tanks, and perform maintenance like changing filters and liners.
But this wasn’t just about building a business—it was about answering a call for help when others couldn’t or wouldn’t. “There were a lot of times I’d be responding to calls at 8 or 9 pm at night,” says Corey. He answered his phone, listened, and met the needs of clients. Word spread fast.
The Heart of Aloha: Community-Driven Service
Corey’s aim from the beginning was to offer a “caring, conscious service.” Growing up in Holualoa, next door to Doris’ Place, Corey learned to value a strong sense of community, where you look out for each other. This same community-mindedness drives his business.
This community spirit isn’t just marketing speak—it’s lived reality. Consider this testimonial from a long-time customer: “I have been with pacific blue since moving into my house 12 yrs ago. I have had three memorable water emergencies that because of Murphy’s Law happened on the weekends or Friday. Corey/his crew were there every time I needed them. Always called back within an hour, always able to help.”
Or this Christmas Day miracle: “Cory of Pacific Blue Catchment has always provided me with outstanding customer service. Yesterday (Christmas Day) we had no water! Cory came first thing next morning and replaced the pump! He stands behind his service and products!”
This is the power of ohana—family—in business, where your success is measured not just in profits but in the peace of mind you bring to your community.
When Crisis Strikes: Real Solutions for Real Problems
The true test of any company isn’t how they perform during easy times—it’s how they respond when everything goes wrong. In April 2021, a large landslide cut off the headwaters for Kohala Ditch, a major water source for north Hawaiʻi. Many farmers, ranchers, and landowners in the area were suddenly without water, scrambling to figure out what to do with dozens of thirsty cows and horses.
Corey Yeaton, owner and founder of Pacific Blue Catchment, got a call from one such family on a Thursday. By Monday, Corey and his team had gotten the family set up with a 2,500 gallon tank to capture rainwater off the roof of their home. Today, with upgrades to their system, the family is now catching 26,000 gallons of rainwater off their roof and are totally self reliant.
This isn’t just a feel-good story—it’s proof that when traditional water systems fail, those who embrace rainwater catchment don’t just survive, they thrive. They have been able to bring all their livestock back to their property and no longer worry about water. They are confident they can make it through the Kohala dry season.
The Science of Island Water Independence
We are a locally owned, full-service water conservation system design/build company on the Big Island of Hawaii. We specialize in Rain Water Harvesting Systems. We create rainwater harvesting, and irrigation systems, as well as drainage improvements and landscape solutions.
But Pacific Blue Catchment understands something crucial that many companies miss: Hawaii’s unique challenges require Hawaiian solutions. With so many people moving to Hawaiʻi in the last decade, the county water system is overburdened. In addition, people that live mauka of the highway experience poor water pressure due to the steep elevation. Other more remote areas cannot get county water at all.
“Catchment is like solar power in that it gives you a level of autonomy,” says Corey. If a well fails and the county issues water rationing, you don’t have to worry. If rates go up, you don’t have to worry.
The Pioneer Difference: Built for Hawaii’s Extremes
Not all water tanks are created equal, especially in Hawaii’s harsh environment. For long-lasting water storage, Pacific Blue Catchment’s Pioneer tanks outperform traditional plastic options. Constructed from Zincalume® steel, these tanks are designed to withstand Hawaii’s harsh sun, salty air, and humidity—conditions that often cause plastic tanks to warp, crack, or degrade over time.
Unlike plastic, which can leach chemicals as it deteriorates, Pioneer tanks are lined with antimicrobial liners and have a pretank filter that protects water quality for reliable, long-term storage. And with capacities reaching hundreds of thousands of gallons, they can handle the high demands of commercial, government, and military operations. Plastic is for the short term, Pioneer is for life.
A Team That Embodies Excellence
The magic of Pacific Blue Catchment isn’t just in their systems—it’s in their people. Led by Mr. Corey Yeaton, Managing Member and Mrs. Meagan Kiernan, Office Manager, the team includes standout technicians like Roxie, who consistently earns rave reviews.
“I highly recommend Pacific Blue Catchment! The technician, Roxie, did an excellent job! Prompt service, very knowledgeable, very friendly, got every little detail taken care of!”
“A special shout-out to Roxy, who visited today. She was not only friendly and courteous but also quick to address and resolve the issue at hand.”
The team also includes Jay, who goes above and beyond: “I had the honor of meeting Jay on my last water situation, and not only did he fix the problem, he improved my set up and showed me step by step how to fix the problem myself if I was inclined to do so.”

The Environmental and Economic Case
The benefits of rainwater catchment extend far beyond emergency preparedness. Instead of having to rely on the city’s water supply and paying for it, you can collect rainwater and effectively harvest it using a water catchment system. Did you know that the rain can be used in many different ways? The water you catch minimizes your dependence on groundwater. Having your own supply line gives you huge savings on your water bill, if not eliminate it.
But there’s more to the story than just savings. City water in Hawaii is hard water, which means it builds up in shower heads, which dries up your hair and skin. It stains bathroom floors, mirrors, porcelain, and ceramics. It etches glass material in dinnerware and glassware. Appliances such as clothes washers or dishwashers are affected when you use hard water for a long time. Over time, the minerals build up in your pipes and cause backups and blockages. Rainwater is soft water and doesn’t have the problems associated with using hardware.
Innovation Meets Installation Excellence
What sets Pacific Blue Catchment apart isn’t just what they build, but how they build it. Customer testimonials consistently praise their installation teams: “Crew came on time installed the tank from start to finish in one day even fighting the strong winds out at south point great job very professional. Very happy with the entire process Megan is is great and so is the installation crew!”
Pacific Blue Catchment’s water catchment tank packages offer turnkey solutions that simplify installation, maintenance, and long-term use. From initial consultations to choosing the right tank size, to full setup and ongoing maintenance, we handle every step with precision and care.
Serving Hawaii’s Diverse Communities
From rural homesteads to government facilities, Pacific Blue Catchment serves the full spectrum of Hawaii’s water needs:
Fire Safety: In Hawaii, wildfires are an increasing concern due to prolonged dry seasons, dense vegetation, and isolated properties without ready access to municipal fire hydrants. For homeowners and businesses, fire protection water catchment tanks are an essential safeguard.
Government Solutions: Every government property—from fire stations to community centers—depends on consistent water access. A well-designed water catchment system transforms unpredictable rainfall into a dependable resource, ready when you need it most.
Commercial Excellence: Built to handle the demands of Hawaii’s business community with systems that provide both sustainability and reliability.
The Cultural Connection: Water as Wealth
In ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi, ‘wai’ means freshwater, while ‘waiwai’ translates to wealth. This linguistic connection isn’t coincidental—it reflects a deep cultural understanding that Pacific Blue Catchment embodies in everything they do.
By helping families, businesses, and communities achieve water independence, they’re not just providing a service—they’re preserving a way of life that honors both environmental responsibility and practical wisdom.
