Tenerife, Spain – August, 2025 – Rarepixels is excited to announce the launch of a brand-new level in its hit mobile game 2 Minutes in Space, which will be showcased exclusively at Gamescom 2025 in Cologne, Germany, from August 20–24, 2025. The new level, titled Hitchhiker, offers players a fresh and thrilling survival challenge set in the vast emptiness of space.
Level Overview – Hitchhiker
In this galactic adventure, players are tasked with rescuing astronauts who have been stranded in space following an unexpected and mysterious attack on their fleet. The game is set against the backdrop of five massive, autonomous deep-space cruisers, originally part of a large-scale colonization mission launched by the Galactic Alliance. After losing all communication with the fleet, the astronauts now float helplessly in space as the ships’ automated defense systems continue to engage invisible enemies with missile fire.
As players navigate the deadly environment, they must locate and rescue 42 astronauts scattered across the cosmic void while avoiding missile fire from unseen enemies. The game tests not only players’ reflexes but also their strategic thinking, as they dodge incoming missiles and steer clear of colliding with the vast ships. Success in this challenge unlocks a new spaceship, providing players with a sleek vessel to continue their interstellar journey.

While the Hitchhiker level is rooted in the themes of space survival and exploration, it is also a playful nod to the spirit of classic science fiction adventures. Drawing on elements of cosmic humor and absurdity, the game offers a whimsical journey through space, with a strong emphasis on exploration and the mysterious unknown.

After the event, the level will be rolled out globally as a free update to all players.
